the mural and sign are up

Yesterday i worked on the sign and mural.  The sign contains photos of the planes in flight back in 1910.  The mural shows silouettes of people, some early balloons , and older cars.

  1. Just saw the article about this on OregonLive.com

    Very cool. Congrats!

My family just got back from a family visit to Michigan where we went to the Henry Ford Museum and saw early airplanes and autos - so this strikes a chord. One of the early cars in the museum was involved in a cross-country race that ended in Portland around the same time as this event.

  2. Thank you, Dan, for your hard work on this project. I stumbled onto your blog because I wanted to learn more about the history of the Rose City Golf Course. My interest stems from the fact that I'll be moving into the neighborhood next month and the golf course will be within walking distance of my new place. I look forward to visiting the golf course and seeing your informational displays.

  3. P.S. Dan, I just looked at some more pages in your blog. I really love all the historical tidbits you included. I also love the creative way you used ordinary household objects like empty pineapple cans to construct the model plane to scale. Well done!
